Celebrate Exceptional Talent as Epilepsy Exemplar Awardee Elaine Lee Takes Centerstage

“As an [Epilepsy Exemplar] awardee, I would like to let people know that there's nothing to be ashamed of in having such disability. Life is more meaningful if you at least give yourself a chance to live life.”

We at Unilab Foundation aim to build a healthier, more inclusive Philippines - where every person can share his or her uniqueness regardless of ability, disability, or exceptionality.

Join us in celebration of unique and exceptional talent with Seasons of Desire, an opera concert starring Soprano Elaine Lee.

Described as “a new star in the Philippine Opera World” (Malaya Newspaper), Lee has held performances in the Philippines and Canada, and was a member of the San Diego Opera Chorus in California. She has also produced her own concerts and stage productions - and did all these while fighting through great odds on a daily basis as a Person with Epilepsy.

Because of her contribution to the local opera music industry, Lee was chosen as one of the recipients of the 2014 Exemplar Awards by the Philippine League Against Epilepsy. This award is given in recognition of courageous individuals who have displayed outstanding personal achievements as they live with epilepsy. The concert is also a comeback concert for Lee, after lying low from the opera scene for two years because of her condition. Now Lee is ready to take everyone on a romantic musical ride with her stellar performance.

“I would like to share my talent to everyone in being part of the performance in my own production,” says Lee. “As an [Epilepsy Exemplar] awardee, I would like to let people know that there's nothing to be ashamed of in having such disability. Life is more meaningful if you at least give yourself a chance to live life.”

Seasons of Desire is a story of love, treachery, and vengeance featuring compositions by Mozart and Verdi. Watch it on February 7, 2015 at the Abelardo Hall in UP Diliman.
