The Unilab Foundation, through the Advanced Manufacturing Workforce Development Alliance (AMDev) Program Management Team (PMT), conducted a two-day Alliance Planning Workshop for the Year 2 Implementation on June 20 and June 22, 2023, at the City Garden Grand Hotel in Makati City.

This initiative should calibrate what the dependencies or interdependencies are, and together, plan the strategies that will help us achieve our desired outcomes for the AMDev program,” said AMDev Chief of Party, Dr. Danilo Lachica.

The planning workshop served as a venue for the Alliance partners to align on the status of their Year 1 deliverables and identify their respective priority outputs and outcomes for the Year 2 of program implementation as well as the appropriate strategies moving forward.

Year 1 marked the public launching of the AMDev program and the pilot run of the Advanced Manufacturing Institute (AMI) training courses that were developed in congruence with the findings of the Advanced Manufacturing Workforce Survey responses collected from 224 manufacturing companies across the country.

Having laid out the initial groundwork and established operational systems for the Alliance, the AMDev Program is now gearing up to expand its network and impact, through the establishment of formal collaborations with relevant government agencies, Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs), and Industries, and offering more AMI training courses to a larger, and varied stakeholder group in its Year 2 Implementation.

I humbly ask for your unwavering commitment, passion, and agility as we continue this remarkable journey. Together, we have the power to create lasting change and leave a profound legacy for generations to come,” said ULF Executive Director Elizabeth Aristorenas, emphasizing collaboration as the central driving force behind the Alliance and its goals.

AMDev is a five-year USAID project implemented by ULF in partnership with core partners from the manufacturing sector, academe, and the private sector. It aims to develop a pipeline of highly skilled and adaptive workforce that meets the evolving requirements of the advanced manufacturing sector through better-defined, harmonized skills and qualifications descriptors, competency, and training standards.
